The Review – The Trough, Yeovil ££

Each month we will provide our take on a local establishment to provide you with some recommendations for delicious fayre and fantastic boutique eateries.

Living in Somerset there is an abundance of great quality, locally produced food that is packed full of flavour that will tickle the tastebuds of everyone from the serious foody to the picky eater. There really is something for everyone and we will pick out our favourites to share with you all.

This month we visited The Trough in Yeovil, situated to the north of the town, this stunning café and farmshop is less than twenty minutes away from our flagship development at Lakeview, Keinton Mandeville.

First impressions are inspiring. Situated on Stone lane, this hill-top setting allows for a glorious vista across the Somerset countryside. The din of Sheep bleating can be heard in the adjacent field. Automatically there is a sense of calm and relaxation in the air. This follows you into the impressive building. The atmosphere is laid back with a warm greeting by the friendly staff sets the tone for a thoroughly delightful dining experience. Full height windows let light flood into the dining room whilst remaining warm and inviting on a brisk winter’s morning.

The staff are attentive yet not pressurising it is a nice pace, especially for a Sunday brunch – like when we visited. The café is family friendly and the staff made sure all needs were taken care of, and they were available when they were needed. The menu isn’t overly complicated -simple dishes, classic choices and done well.

Now on to the main event – the food. Straight away the aromas start to tantalise the tastebuds and you know you are in for a treat. The food is fresh and full of flavour. The sausages were particularly delicious. As Brunch goes it was everything you could ask for. Chilled with simple and flavoursome food, nothing is overly pretentious everything is executed wonderfully, and I can’t think of a better way to start a Sunday. I would recommend this based on our experience. I can not wait to go back to try the Sunday Lunch offerings!
